Edsel Brown Wallace
EDMONTON – Edsel Brown Wallace, 98, formerly of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 3, 2026, at his residence. He was born June 17, 1927, in Barren County to the late Woodrow and Grace Wallace. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maedell Wallace, and his siblings, Golda, Barbara, Betty Lou, Rose, Keith, Randall, and Phoenix.
Edsel went to school in Temple Hill and became a member of the Lick Branch Church at the age of 11, and later attended church at Hickory College Church. He joined the Army in 1945 and served in Japan during WWII in the glider unit. After leaving the service, he went to Hoopeston, IL, looking for work. While in Illinois, he met his wife, Maedell Witty, who had moved there with her parents from Metcalfe County. They later married in 1950 and lived there for 44 years, and raised two children, Ann and Eddie. He worked for Food Machinery Corporation for 35 years; after retiring in 1993, they moved back to Kentucky.
He is survived by his children, Ann Wallace (Bobby) Atwell of Edmonton and Eddie (Marilyn) Wallace of Florida; four grandchildren, Richard Carder, Sarah Beth (Julian) Gonzalez, Erik Wallace, and Taylor Wallace; great-grandson, Joshua (Emalee) Brueggeman; great-great-grandson, Jonah Brueggeman; and his brother, Rex (Doris) Wallace.
In honor of keeping Ed’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
