Staff Report

Butler County residents will have plenty of festive opportunities to kick off the Christmas season as several community celebrations take place this weekend.

The holiday fun begins on Friday, December 5, with the Community Christmas Party hosted by the Rochester Ladies League at the Rochester Community Center. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., followed by a special visit from Santa Claus at 7 p.m. Guests who are able are encouraged to bring soup, chili, or a dessert to share. The Ladies League says they are excited to welcome families for an evening of food, fellowship, and holiday cheer.

Festivities continue on Saturday, December 6, as the Morgantown–Butler County Chamber of Commerce presents its annual “Christmas Through the Decades” Parade. The parade will begin at 2 p.m., with lineup starting at noon at Morgantown Elementary School. Judging will take place at 1 p.m. Entry fees are free for Chamber partners, $5 for Jeeps and vintage cars, $10 for businesses with a trailer or float, and $20 for businesses without a trailer or float. No advance sign-up is required, and entries will line up in the order of arrival. Candy distribution is permitted.
