GLASGOW — Glasgow Police have confirmed that 21-year-old Jabari Sweatt was involved in two unrelated incidents on Oct. 17, 2025 — a late-afternoon DUI investigation and a nighttime crash that claimed three young lives. Police emphasize that Sweatt was a passenger in both vehicles and not the driver in either incident.

4:30 p.m. — Woodlawn Street DUI Investigation

Officers responded to a non-injury collision on Woodlawn Street after a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Grayson James Abney left the roadway and came to rest in a ditch. A Woodlawn Street resident reported that the car had passed his home at a high rate of speed just moments before the crash.

Police say Abney showed signs of impairment, registering .104 on a preliminary breath test and later .091 on the Intoxilyzer 8000.

Witnesses also reported seeing one male run into nearby woods to hide something. Officers recovered a half-full bottle of 1800 tequila. Sweatt, a passenger, told officers others in the vehicle had alcohol. A female later arrived to pick up Sweatt and a juvenile passenger after Abney was taken into custody.

Abney was arrested and lodged in the Barren County Detention Center on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and wanton endangerment.

11:30 p.m. — Fatal Three-Vehicle Collision

Hours later, Sweatt was again a passenger — this time in a 2016 Nissan Altima driven by 18-year-old Asa Howard of Edmonton. Investigators determined Howard was traveling at a high rate of speed on North Jackson Highway and failed to stop at the intersection with Veterans Outer Loop, colliding with a Toyota Highlander driven by Timothy Houchens of Glasgow.

Three passengers in Howard’s vehicle — 18-year-old Emily Corbin, a 14-year-old Bowling Green teen, and a 17-year-old from Edmonton — were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sweatt and another survivor were transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital, where Sweatt was later released.

Howard Now Charged with Murder

As the investigation progressed, police obtained charges against Howard. According to a Glasgow Police Department press release, Howard was arrested on Nov. 1 by Metcalfe County Deputy Jarrod Steele and charged with:

– Three counts of murder

– One count of first-degree assault

– Three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment

Investigation Continues

Glasgow Police Chief Guy Howie said the department is still piecing together both incidents.

“We know where some of the alcohol was purchased and are continuing our investigation,” Howie said. “These were two separate incidents several hours apart. The only individual involved in the Grayson Abney DUI accident was his passenger, 21-year-old Jabari Sweatt.”

The fatal collision remains under active investigation.
