Staff Report

Churchill Downs Racetrack has unveiled the official Mint Julep Glass and “Art of the Kentucky Derby” for the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve — both created by Kentucky native Grayson Reynolds.

Since its debut in 1938, the Kentucky Derby Mint Julep Glass has become one of the most sought-after Derby collectibles. This year’s design features three Thoroughbreds in varying strides, framed by roses in honor of the traditional garland draped over each Derby winner. The back of the glass displays the names of every champion from Aristides in 1875 through Sovereignty in 2025.

Reynolds’ official Derby 152 artwork highlights five horses charging from the starting gate beneath the iconic Twin Spires. Red roses erupt from the track, symbolizing the energy and anticipation behind the “Run for the Roses®.”

“We are thrilled to showcase Grayson as the first Art of the Kentucky Derby artist to also design the official julep glass — two iconic traditions united by her artistry,” said Megan App, Director of Licensing at Churchill Downs Racetrack. “Her work captures the emotion and excitement of The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports®.”

Reynolds’ artwork will also be featured on the 2026 Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks official racing programs, along with a range of merchandise.

“I’m incredibly honored to be named the first-ever artist to design both the Kentucky Derby art and julep glass,” Reynolds said. “As a native Kentuckian, traditions of the Derby have been part of my story growing up, and I’m excited to share my work with the world.”

Reynolds will appear at Churchill Downs on Friday, Nov. 28, for a public signing of her prints. The event will be held in the Churchill Downs Store, just inside the Paddock Gate, from 2–4 p.m.

Kentucky Derby mint julep glasses and Art of the Derby prints are available at www.KentuckyDerbyStore.com.

Tickets for the 152nd Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby may be purchased at www.KentuckyDerby.com, www.DerbyExperiences.com, or by calling (502) 636-4447.

The $5 million Kentucky Derby, first run in 1875, remains the longest continually held major sporting event in the United States. Known as “The Run for the Roses®” and “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports®,” the Derby will mark its 152nd running on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Churchill Downs in Louisville.
