Haskel “Hack” Adwell

Haskell “Hack” Adwell 82, Charlestown, IN passed away suddenly September 10, 2024, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN. He was a Barren County native and was the son of the late Veachel Adwell and Lula Mae Martin Adwell. He served in the United States Army in the 25th Infantry with courage and dedication to his country. He served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. After returning home from the military he spent 40 years in the car business. He worked his way up from salesman to management. Hack was named a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Julian Carroll in 1979.  He was of the Baptist faith and would frequently talk about the Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Pendleton Adwell: four sons, Malcolm “Mac” Adwell (Carla), Kelly Adwell, Wesley Adwell (Cathy), and Ryan Corbett (Rachel); four daughters, April Adwell, Missy Adwell, Christy Thelen (Peter), Tia Rae Elbert; twenty grandchildren, Brian Adwell (Trista), Sara Norman, September Harris (Jessie), Heather Sallee, Trevor Adwell (Jessica), Cody Adwell, Summer Adwell, Danielle Reynolds (Patrick), Davin Duncan, Allie Bliss (Brandon), Austin Palao, Ethan Holder, Alex Herron, Abbie Rae Adwell, Kayla Corbett, Brook Corbett, Danielle Corbett, Whitney McCoy, Jocelyn McCoy, and Raylan Thelen; eighteen great-grandchildren; eight brothers, Willie Adwell (Peggy), Howard Adwell (Linda), Larry Adwell (Doris), Doug Adwell (Robin), Jerry Adwell (Paula), Terry Adwell (Allison), Bruce Adwell (Lisa), and Veachel Adwell (Donna); three sisters, Carolyn Perkins (Donnie), Margaret Kinslow, and Sandra Burris; daughter in-law, Juanita Adwell; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sons, Gary Adwell and Patrick “Scott” Adwell; brother, Paul Adwell; brother in-law, Jerry Kinslow; and great-granddaughter, Ruby Grace Adwell.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, September 16, 2024, at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20. Visitation will be after 1:00pm Sunday at the funeral home. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is assisting family with arrangements.
