BARDSTOWN, KY – David Randall Dillon, 78, passed away on March 28, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was born March 20, 1946, in Glasgow, KY to the late Lester and Marine Scott Dillon of Sulphur Well, KY. David was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jeanette Dillon Reece formerly of Edmonton, KY. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

David was a graduate of Metcalfe County High School’s class of 1965. He then joined the Navy and spent his younger years in many cities such as Louisville, Nashville, and Atlanta. While living in Louisville, he was a Firefighter from 1974-1980. David then switched professions and began what would be his lifelong career in the elevator trade industry. He returned to his home state of Kentucky and lived near historic Bardstown from 2017 until his time of death.

David was an avid outdoorsman and photographer who spent much of his time in nature. He was a skilled and accomplished skier and hiker and continued these activities up until his illness no longer allowed. He has climbed Mt. Rainier and has thousands of beautiful photographs documenting his many adventures over the years. David also enjoyed woodworking and carpentry. Though this was mostly a hobby, his work exhibited a professional level of craftsmanship. He was a gifted artisan in several areas of his life.

A private memorial service will be held at a later time. The family asks that donations be made in memory of David Dillon to the Wilderness Society of Washington, District of Columbia (wilderness.org).

David was my first cousin,I had talked to him on the 19th of March and thought he sounded very weak.even though he told me he was about the same. I PRAYED FOR HIM EVERY DAY. In hopes he would receive Jesus before he passed. We grew up together and he was like a brother. I love you David and my heart is broken
