Submitted News by Paula Ratliff

Mission BBQ Restaurant in Bowling Green is honoring Vietnam Veterans on Friday, March 29, which is National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

Mission BBQ will serve free sandwiches and desserts, along with congratulatory handshakes and welcome home greetings, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Tim Riggs, Community Ambassador at Mission BBQ, said “We are honored to serve our Vietnam Veterans and we are taking this opportunity to thank them for their service. These men and women did what their country asked them to do and we are grateful.”

In addition, Warren Countian and WWII U.S. Army Veteran J. Lee Robertson (AKA Mr. Western), age 101, will be there from 12:00-1:30 to greet local Vietnam Veterans.

“It is important to acknowledge the brave men and women who answered the call to protect freedom far from home.  We are eternally grateful to these soldiers and their families. I had the great honor to share stories and memories with Vietnam Veterans on the 2022 Bluegrass Honor Flight.” Robertson was a member of the 44th Tank Battalion.

The restaurant is open to the public and everyone is invited to participate. The restaurant features the National Anthem every day at noon.

J. Lee Robertson, U.S. Army WWII, will be at Mission BBQ in Bowling Green on Friday, March 29, from 12 – 1:30 p.m. while the restaurant offers free items for Vietnam Veterans.
