The Hornets entered the season a heavy underdog. A young team, a year removed from graduating two of the best players in the fourth region. A lot may not have been expected, but a lot was accomplished. The Hornets battled their way to the fourth region tournament after playing Cinderella and securing two huge victories in the district tournament.

Sophomore Cade Button flirted with 30-point affairs all season, averaging 24.4 ppg for the Hornets. Junior Hudson Jessie averaged 13.9 ppg and 8.2 rpg, putting a double-double into play nearly every night. Sophomores Maddux Garrett and Kruz Tucker matured into their own through the course of the season, both showing the ability to knock down huge shots for the Hornets. Juniors Ben Shirley and Collin Shive both brought strong a physical presence in the paint, while seniors Cabot Boling and Colton Huffman provided unquestioned grit and leadership for Metcalfe.

Cade, Hudson, Maddux, and Ben were all awarded All District Team for the Hornets. Cade was recognized as 3rd team All Region, while he and Hudson both were awarded Region All Tournament Team.

The Hornets finished the season a much better team than they began it. Individual growth and team unity developed at an obvious pace. Unlike last year, the Hornets will return over 94% of their scoring, making lessons learned and experience gathered from this season immeasurable. However, the Hornets will lose two excellent young men in Cabot Boling and Colton Huffman. It is certainly an honor for Metcalfe County to see Cabot and Colton graduate in maroon.
