J. D. “Red” Rutherford

CAVE CITY – J. D. “Red” Rutherford, age 85, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at his residence. The Barren County native was born on October 8, 1938, to the late John Wesley “Johnny” and Lola Frances Compton Rutherford.

Red served our country in the U.S Marines. After serving for four years, he returned home, met and married the love of his life, Dasie Nannie Rutherford. Red owned and operated Mainline Enterprises as a general contractor for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, bird hunting, talking politics and piddling around his shop.

Besides his wife of fifty-five years, Dasie, he leaves to honor his memory– his daughter, Stacey Rutherford Wallace (Eric) of Cave City; bonus children, Lee Ann Anderson (Jason), Laycie, Lauryn, and Rayce Mauk; along with several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

VISITATION – 11 AM—2 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel

FUNERAL SERVICE – 2 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel
