Mary Christine Chism

GLASGOW – Mary Christine Chism, age 82, passed away Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at NHC in Glasgow. She was born in Metcalfe County on January 26, 1942, to the late Edward Compton and the late Katie (Marshall) Compton. Mary was of the Baptist faith and a member of Siloam Baptist Church. She retired from NHC after 32 years of service to others. She was also a hairdresser, which was her passion. She was married to the late Wayne Chism.

She is survived by her children, Phillip Earl Harper, Melissa Chism Goodman, Tammy Harper Clark (Jim), Sue Harper Wilson (Mike), David Allen Harper (Janet); grandchildren, James Michael Harper (Kim), Stephanie Coffey Esters, Drew Coffey (Andrea), Clint Harper (Hannah), Katie Marie Harper, Mike Baker (Sabriena), and Patty Martin (Willy); great-grandchildren, Kendall Esters, Gavin Coffey, Kolton Esters, Weston Coffey, Karsyn Esters, Bailey Peterson, Kylee Harper, Reid Harper, William Harper, Annie Harper, Rollins Grace Harper, Tripp Michael Baker, and Amelia Baker; siblings, Magdline Compton Poynter (Gerld), Barbara Sue Compton Smith; brothers & sisters-in-law, Wanda Harper, Evelyn Harper, Barb Harper, Jackie Chism Kerr, and Ellen Chism; also surviving, several special nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Nelson Harper; two children, Robin Chism Hall and Ronald Wayne Harper; one grandchild, David Q Harper; two brothers, William Thomas Compton and Raymond Compton; brothers & sisters in law, Sally Harper Roach, Faye Harper Hines, Wilber Harper, Roy Harper, Carter Harper, Gilbert Harper, and James Smith.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time for the service, Saturday at the funeral home
