Winners of their last three, Metcalfe looked to extend their streak in a week set with a full slate of games. Their first game of the week was a tough task, facing the Russell County Lakers (10-10), who had defeated the Hornets 82-55 early in the season.

Tuesday night would be a different result as the Hornets brought their A game. Cade Button dropped 23 points in the first half. Kruz Tucker found the hot hand in the second half, putting up 20 points for the Hornets. In what was possibly the best outing for the Hornets of the season, Cade Button finished with 29 points and Hudson Jessie added 20 more, leading Metcalfe to a 79-78 victory over the Lakers.

The Hornets continued the week in a Friday night district match up against Cumberland County (13-9). In front of a packed Metcalfe County High School gymnasium, the Hornets pushed out to a 19-16 lead after the first quarter. As the night continued, the Hornets would not be able to keep pace as they fell 57-80. Cade once again led the Hornets with 22 points against the Panthers.

Saturday night a very banged up Hornet team would travel to Campbellsville (8-13). Short-handed, the Hornets fought hard, but finished the night with a 47-62 defeat.

The Hornets will face another long, three game slate this week as they will host Edmonson County and Adair County, and then finish the week Friday night in Somerset.
