The 7th-grade matchup set the stage for Metcalfe County’s success for the rest of the night as they faced Caverna in their first volleyball match of the season. The Lady Hornets won the first set in convincing fashion, 21-7. The second was more of the same as Metcalfe closed it out with a score of 21-10.
The standout of the 7th-grade game was Kelly Brown, as she recorded an impressive 9 aces, guiding the Lady Hornets to victory. Emma Groce also added 4 aces and two excellently executed dumps for the Lady Hornets.
In the 8th-grade match, Metcalfe Middle School continued their winning streak against the Colonels. The first set concluded with a commanding score of 21-8. The momentum carried into the second set, where Metcalfe sealed the win with a final score of 21-11.
Skyla Miller, Lily Robertson, and Kinsley Reece emerged as the powerhouses of the 8th-grade team, each contributing an impressive 6 aces. Miller’s versatility was on display with a kill and a skillful kill tip, while Alma Shirley and Kinsley Reece added to the offensive firepower with a kill each. Maylea Jessee also exhibited strategic finesse with a perfectly executed dump.
This victory not only marks a successful start to the season for the Lady Hornets, but also the initiation of middle school volleyball for the Colonels. Metcalfe County Middle School Lady Hornets look poised for an exciting and successful volleyball season.
