Betty June Kirby Satterly

Betty June Kirby Satterly entered her heavenly home on December 29, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Marion L. Davis and William Kirby and wife of Harrison D. Satterly who survives.

Betty, mom, nanny as she was known by her grandchildren loved the Lord. She was one of the first members of First Freewill Baptist Church where she was a proud member for over 60 years. She worked in various jobs in the church including a retired Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school, and bus ministry. Betty’s love for children extended outside of the church to her other jobs as she retired from South Green Elementary School Cafeteria in 2006. Betty raised ten children and cared for her grandchildren. When not working, you could find Betty along side her husband on the family farm. Before the decline in her health, Betty enjoyed many activities including gardening, canning foods and jams, and hosting large family gatherings. Betty was an avid reader and her love for reading was passed on to many of her children and grandchildren.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer K. Jones; in-laws, Orthey and Vila Faye Satterly, and Don and Hellen Jones; and a sister, Nancy Glass.

Including her husband of 52 years, Betty is survived by nine children. Jeff Satterly, Winchester, Virginia, Vila (Ken) Daniel, Paducah, Kentucky, Tammy Satterly, Paducah, Kentucky, Donna Satterly, Caro, Michigan, Donald (Sherry) Jones, Glasgow, Kentucky, Charles (Vickie) Jones, Glasgow, Kentucky, Michael (Jill) Satterly, Cave City, Kentucky, Melissa (Tim) Perkins, Summer Shade, Kentucky, and Hellen (Keith) Sherfey, Glasgow, Kentucky. Betty had twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff, nurses, and doctors at TJ Samson Community Hospital, The Medical Center at Bowling Green, and Hospice of Southern Kentucky for the utmost care they provided to Betty during her most recent illness. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made in her name to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or First Freewill Baptist Church of Glasgow.
