The Hornets traveled to Berea last week for the Berea Holiday Classic. In their first round Wednesday, the Hornets faced the Model Patriots (5-6) out of Richmond. Despite 24 points from Cade Button and a narrow halftime lead, the Hornets would drop their first game 59-63.

The Hornets would quickly turn things around as they took on Lee County (3-7) Thursday. Behind career days from both Cade Button (32) and Kruz Tucker (19), the Hornets would amount a big lead early and finish with an 85-66 victory. In their winning effort, Hudson Jessie recorded a near double-double with 13 points and 9 rebounds.

In their final matchup of the week, the Hornets played Garrard County (2-8). Cade Button and Kruz Tucker remained hot Friday, Cade finishing with 30 and Kruz with 14. The Hornets would finish the day with their second 19-point victory in as many days, 72-53.

Cade and Kruz both had impressive weeks in Berea. Cade averaging 29 points over the Hornets’ three games and Kruz averaging 13.

The Hornets enjoyed a very productive week before Christmas, recording two victories and taking advantage of their time together off the court, spending time growing as a team unit.
