Betty Jean Sickles Phelps passed away

Betty Jean Sickles Phelps, age 78 of Morgantown, KY passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the Morgantown Care & Rehab. Betty was born on Wednesday, January 24, 1945 in the Banock Community of Butler County, KY to the union of the late Willie and Freda Pierce Havens. She was a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Betty enjoyed being a member of the Monical and Larry Davis sewing group, sewing weekly at Morgantown First Baptist Church and the Butler County Library. Betty retired from Sumitomo Electric Industries after many years and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband Jim Neal Sickles; one grandson Brock Hampton; one brother Raymond Havens and one sister in law Ruthie Havens.

Betty Phelps is survived by her husband of 53 years Mike Phelps of Morgantown, KY; three daughters Tonya Hampton (Tim) of Logansport, KY, Sonya House of Bowling Green, KY and LaTisha Howard (Shawn) of Morgantown, KY; five grandchildren Tori Hampton (Houston) of Morgantown, KY, Tera Hampton of Logansport, KY, Cole House of Bowling Green, KY, Breanna and Kaleigh Howard of Morgantown, KY; four siblings Daymon Havens of Rosine, KY, Ray Havens of Morgantown, KY, James Havens of Morgantown, KY and Dale Havens (Birdie) of Russellville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Morgantown First Baptist Church Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 12:00pm with Bro. Greg Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens where Dale Havens, Tim Hampton, Shawn Howard, Chris and Cole House and Houston Hampton will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Saturday 9:00am until funeral time at the Morgantown First Baptist Church.
