The Edmonton Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce held its annual Christmas Banquet a bit earlier this year on Monday, November 27th at the old high school gymnasium.
The Achilles Award which developed from an idea by Cindy Cassady, was awarded by Chamber Executive Director Kim Harwood to Chris and Bill Lagermann for the 4th quarter of the year. A very fitting award considering it is named for their sweet, lovable Great Pyrenees dog Achilles who attended most community events with them. Sadly, Achilles passed away last Christmas. The Lagermann’s attend and help at many community events and chamber events as well.
The night’s entertainment began with young Tymber Garrett singing a beautiful Christmas song to the crowd. That was followed by Tareena Sloan, Larry Wilson, and Emily Coffey performing a small part of the comedy Dashing Through the Snow. Those in attendance were treated to a good laugh and reminded that the play is being performed in full in December at the MCMS auditorium.
Chamber Board President Daniel Bragg presented a gift to the 2023 student representative Anna Grace Blythe and chamber name tags to the 2024 student representatives Brody Hurt and Kassady London.
Resigning from the board is Chris Lagermann and Bragg presented her with an engraved tray as a thank you gift for her years of service on the board. Filling her vacant seat will be Melody Baker.
The tables were decorated cheerfully in Christmas colors and greenery by Terri Teague owner of Ginger Flare. As usual, Diane’s Cakes & Catering did a fantastic job with the dinner. Local businesses donated items for the door prizes which were given away at the end of the banquet.
