Patsy Ann Burnette Trainham
GLASGOW – Patsy Ann Burnette Trainham, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in Glasgow, KY. She was born the daughter of the late HR Burnette and Edna Hurst Burnette on July 1, 1943, in Micanopy, Florida. Patsy graduated from Gainesville High School, Gainesville, Florida in June of 1961 and married her high school sweetheart Don Trainham on May 4, 1962.
She began her work career with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office in Gainesville and paused her career for a year and a half when she went to Germany to be with Don where he was stationed in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. When she came back home resumed work with the Sheriff’s Office for another 12-13 years. During that time she was the first secretary for the newly formed Combined Drug Task Force which was comprised of members of the Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Dept., University Police Dept., State Atty. Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement. When Patsy left the Sheriff’s Office she was Supervisor of the Records Division.
She then worked for the Alachua County Administrative Services Division. After several years of service there she helped form along with Marnie (Moore) Feasel Moore-Trainham Inc. an office management consulting firm. She also worked in the insurance industry for several years and in 1998 went to work for HB Fuller (Specialty Construction Brands) in Gainesville until she retired in 2016 when she and Don moved to Kentucky. She always said that she was born and raised in Florida so it was time for Chapter Two of her life….a new adventure.
While living in Archer, Florida she was a member of the Archer First United Methodist Church where she served in several capacities: Choir director for many years, chairman of the worship committee, the building committee when they added a dining hall and Sunday School rooms, Lay Leader and speaker and member of the trustees. When she and Don moved to Glasgow, Kentucky they joined the Glasgow First United Methodist Church. Patsy loved God, family, and friends and always loved it when folks called her “Ms. Patsy”.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don; her mother and father, her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and sister-in-law.
She is survived by two children, Bobby Trainham (Troyce) Glasgow, KY, and Tammy Trainham-Ridgell (Tommy) Brooksville, FL; seven grandchildren, Casey Trainham (Bethany) Glasgow, KY, Aaron Cerda (Ashley) Bentonville, AR, Stephen Cerda St. Petersburg, FL, Paige Ridgell High Springs, FL, Ashley Ridgell Fishers, IN, Vanessa Elmore Rule, TX, and Deanna Novoa PAF BASE, FL; seven great-grandchildren, Hudson Craft Glasgow, KY, Barrett Trainham Glasgow, KY, Lexi Mills Glasgow, KY, Madison Todd High Springs, FL, Ryleigh Cromer High Springs, FL, Caden Cerda Springfield, MO, River Elmore Rule, TX, and Grayson, Adam and Aaliyah Novoa PAF Base FL; one brother, Dr. HJ Burnette (Carol) Fort Myers FL; one sister, Bonnie Burnette Jacksonville NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Archer United Methodist Church in Archer, FL with burial in the Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 pm -2:00 pm at the Archer United Methodist Church in Archer, FL.
