GLASGOW – Marilyn Ruth Smith, age 74, peacefully entered into eternal heavenly glory on November 8, 2023. She was at Jewish hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, surrounded by her beloved family as she made her transition.
Marilyn was the daughter of the late Floyd Smith and the late Zelma (Starr) Smith. She was also proceeded in death by her twin brother, John Marion Smith; and her grandparents, Angie and John Starr.
She is survived by two dear sisters, Mildred Smith (Samuel) of Glasgow and Marcia Copass (Ronnie) of Bowling Green. She had two nieces, Amy Fugate, Todd and Lori Copass, both of Bowling Green and one nephew, Chris Smith (Donna) of Glasgow. They were special to Marilyn, and she thought of them as her own. Marilyn also adored her four grand-nieces and two grand-nephews. They are Autumn Smith of Hopkinsville; Kaylee Copass, Andrew Hatcher, Lily Fugate and Avery Fugate of Bowling Green; and Dru Smith of Glasgow.
Marilyn graduated from Temple Hill School in 1967. She then moved to Bowling Green where she worked for many years at the Bowling Green City-County Hospital and Riley’s Bakery.
Marilyn was a long-time member of Temple Hill Baptist Church where she was saved as an 11-year-old girl. She enjoyed attending church as long as she was physically able. Marilyn loved God and was a wonderful Christian witness. She certainly depended on him during the many health issues she endured.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Friday, November 10, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 11:00 AM until time of her funeral service at 1:00 PM. Marilyn will be buried at Poplar Log Cemetery beside her twin brother, John Marion.
