John Philip “Johnny” Dalton passed away


John Philip “Johnny” Dalton age 85 of Morgantown Ky., passed away on Sunday the 29th day of October, 2023 at the Morgantown Care and Rehab in Morgantown Ky. Johnny was born on Friday the 10th day of June, 1938 in Louisville Ky., to the union of the late Willie and Wava White Dalton and the husband of the late Nyla Faye Flener Dalton. He was the retired owner of Dalton Oil, a member of Morgantown First Baptist Church, past president of the Butler County Basketball boosters, and a member of the Cassia Masonic Lodge #272. Johnny loved sports, supporting Red Sox baseball and the Green Bay Packers but was a avid fan of UK basketball and loved to discuss the history of the program. He traveled many miles over the years in support of the UK Wildcats and the Butler Co. Bears. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing and being a basketball referee in his younger years. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister Mary Dalton Childress and three brothers Charles, M.T., and Ray Dalton.

John Philip “Johnny” Dalton is survived by one daughter Lisa Jenkins and Husband Dwayne of Morgantown Ky., one son Philip Jay Dalton and wife Angie of Morgantown Ky., four grandchildren Justin Jenkins of Bowling Green Ky., Nicholas Jenkins of Morgantown Ky., Sydney Cannon and husband Travis of Alvaton Ky., and Tessa Dalton Cessna of Morgantown Ky., seven great grandchildren Emersyn and Sutton Jenkins of Morgantowwn Ky., Aubrey, Aria, Axel Cannon of Alvaton Ky., Reagan and Remi Cessna of Morgantown Ky., along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel on Thursday the 2nd day of November, 2023 at 11:00am with Bro. Greg Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Gardens with Philip Dalton, Dwayne Jenkins, Justin Jenkins, Nicholas Jenkins, Travis Cannon, Robbie Henderson, Trevor Henderson, and Tonya Henderson serving as pallbearers. Vistation will be held on Wednesday the 1st day of November from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Jones Funeral chapel and on Thursday the 2nd day of November, 2023 from 9:00 am until funeral time at 11:00 am at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
