Arkley Millard Phelps

EDMONTON – Arkley Millard Phelps, 69, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at his residence. He was born on May 28, 1954, in Edmonton, KY to the late Millard and Lonia Garrett Phelps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Cawthorn Phelps.

 

Mr. Phelps was a retired Staff Sergeant in the U. S Army and served during the Desert Storm War. Arkley was a known trader of anything he could make money on and enjoyed politics, collecting knives, and rattlesnake hunting.

 

Survivors include four children, Sharon Sherfey (Terry) of Glasgow, KY, Chris Phelps (Sherry), Wayne Phelps (Ashley), and Kellie Phelps (Mark Friant) all of Edmonton, KY; eight grandchildren, Ty and Tanner Sherfey, Logan, Aubrey, Lane, and Trey Phelps, Allie DeWeese, and Rylee Reece; two siblings, Gene Phelps (Joann) and Helen Jessie both of Edmonton, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Noah Phelps; and four siblings, Owen Phelps, Rae Dial, Linda Dickson, and Jimmy Phelps.

 

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home with burial in the Garrett Cemetery, Military Honors will be provided by D.A.V. Chapter #20. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and continue Saturday until time for the service at Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home.
