On Friday, October 20, the Edmonton-Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce hosted its tenth ribbon cutting of the year with the ceremony for Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, which was one of the largest crowds on record for such a ceremony.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff L. Jessie and staff were greeted by colleagues, elected officials, family, friends, and members of the Chamber of Commerce for the event. Everyone was given the opportunity to visit and tour the new facility before gathering out front for the official ribbon cutting. The facility is beautifully decorated and boasts a breathtaking stone fireplace in the center of the foyer. Not only is the facility aesthetically pleasing, but it also provides a sense of peace and comfort.

Chamber President Daniel Bragg was unable to be in attendance; however, the previous Chamber President, Torrie Osbon, was on hand to welcome the crowd.

Osbon expressed her appreciation to the businesses that open their doors in Metcalfe County, and to the community that will support them. She introduced Jeff L. Jessie, Owner and President of the facility before he cut the ribbon to make the ribbon cutting at this new site official.

Jessie came forward to thank his lovely wife and staff for being by his side through this venture before welcoming the crowd and thanked them for being there. He was humbled by the turnout and support shown by those in attendance. He said he was pleased to be in Metcalfe County and to be able to offer more options to the community.

Jessie also owns McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade and Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia.

He also introduced his staff: Terry Wilson, Larry Wilson, Amy Wilson, Dennis Dean Rowe II, and Greg Dickson.

The morning ended with visiting, pictures, and a bountiful table of refreshments.

Located off the Louie B. Nunn Parkway at 35 Old Glasgow Road in Edmonton, Jessie-Wilson Funeral Home and Cremation Services have office hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and as needed. The phone number for contact is (270) 432-0895.
