The Barren County faithful fans had little to celebrate on the field for their 2023 Homecoming. The Dragons spoiled the Trojan celebration shutting out the home team 33-0.
The Barren County High School fans did not let the 20-0 halftime score keep them silent for the festivities at the break. The crowd cheered loudly when Katie Murphy was named the BCHS 2023 Football Homecoming Queen and Cash Moore was named the 2023 King.
It was all Dragons offensively in the first half despite the efforts of Trojan quarterback Tate Spillman.
Green County received the second-half kickoff and Colton Thomas gave the crowd something to cheer about when he raced down the field and made a jarring tackle on the Dragon runner stopping him in his tracks.
But the excitement was short-lived.

The Trojans defense did their job with two big stops near the goal line. The BCHS defense stopped the Dragons on a run on 3rd and goal. The tight pass coverage of Tristen Muse and Brey Bewley forced an incomplete pass on 4th and goal from the 4-yard line.
Austin Sewell got the Trojans out of a deep hole picking up a 1st down on the 14-yard line, but an issue on the QB-center exchange and an incomplete pass intended for Dalton Garmon forced another BCHS punt–something the Trojans did a lot of on this night.
Trojan punter Brayden Houchens was a busy man.
The Dragons connected on a long pass before the 3rd quarter ended putting the Trojans even further behind, 26-0, heading into the final quarter.
With 3:41 left in the game, Green County scored again this time converting on the PAT kick, to win 33-0.
The tale of the tape tells the game story. The Dragons had over 450 yards of total offense while the Trojans only had 175 total yards.
Spillman led the Trojans ground game with 16 carries for 79 yards scrambling for his life for much of the game. He threw 11 times for 55 yards.
