MCMS Hornets Softball Takes Third

The Metcalfe County Middle School softball team traveled to Cumberland County Friday night for the 16th district tournament. The Lady Hornets played Cumberland County in their first matchup. The Lady Panthers would jump out to an early lead 8-1 lead, but the Lady Hornets would fight back, falling just short 8-11. Rory Bragg would pitch five strong innings only allowing two earned runs on four hits and three walks. Rory would also contribute from the plate, driving in three runs for the Lady Hornets. Morgan Avery and LeeElla Boles would also add hits for the Lady Hornets.

In the late game, the Lady Hornets would take on the Lady Falcons. Starting on the mound again for the Lady Hornets, Rory would pitch six innings, only allowing one earned run on one walk and four hits. Although Metcalfe wouldn’t record a hit, they would reach base on 12 walks, leading them to a 5-4 victory and a third-place finish in the district.
