Eighth Grade Night Victory

Metcalfe County Middle School Softball hosted the Monroe County Falcons last Tuesday for eighth-grade night. Metcalfe’s three eighth graders, Morgan Avery, Avery Harlow, and Alma Shirley were honored pregame. The game would be the third matchup between Metcalfe and Monroe this season, with the Lady Hornets looking to break into the win column.

While Metcalfe’s season has been filled with close games up until Tuesday, Tuesday’s matchup would carry a different result, as the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Falcons by ten runs. Rory Bragg only gave up two earned runs through four innings of work. Rory hit her spots and was backed up by the masterful glove work of third baseman LeeElla Boles who would also contribute two runs and two RBIs from the plate, hitting out of the two-hole. Delivering on her senior night, Morgan Avery scored three runs and drove in one off of two hits from the leadoff spot, propelling the Lady Hornets to their 15-5 victory.
