Metcalfe Shoebox Mission Kick-Off

By Carol Perkins

Metcalfe Coordinator

Our 2023 Metcalfe Shoebox Mission (part of Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child) has officially begun!

Last year, we sent 1,150 boxes to children in over 170 countries and territories, many of them “unreached” (missionaries are prohibited). With the help of individuals, business owners, organizations, and churches, we can set a new goal of 1,300 boxes. Imagine 1,300 children, who cherish even a cup and spoon, opening a Christmas box from Metcalfe County.

What goes in a box? Our boxes focus on hygiene products, personal items, school supplies, random objects that kids enjoy, plus a wow toy. You can view a list of items at www.samaritianspurse.org. Then, at the processing center, volunteers place a New Testament and a booklet entitled, “The Greatest Journey,” inside each box, helping to fulfill the Great Commission to spread the Word throughout the world.

How can you be part of this mission?

*Involve your church, clubs, organizations, and various groups by preparing boxes. (Contact me for boxes)

*Prepare boxes as individuals or as a family. (One box per family would be unbelievable!)

*Donate to the Metcalfe Shoebox Mission at ESB and let our countywide shoppers prepare boxes in your name.

*Donate toward shipping and the materials that are placed inside each box. (Desperately needed)

*Collect items and drop them off at the Chamber Office or Metcalfe Drugs.

*Volunteer (text me at 270-670-4913)

The Shoeboxes will leave Metcalfe County in November, so let the mission begin!
