Tonight: Glasgow’s 9/11 Candle Light Vigil

By Allyson Dix, Managing Editor/Barren County Progress

Everyone is invited to tonight’s 9/11 Candle Light Vigil, which will begin at 7 p.m. at the Glasgow Fire Department.

The vigil is held each year in Glasgow as a way to remember those who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 in the World Trade Center attack.

Locals have coordinated the vigil to continue the memory of the painstaking day of the attacks that changed our country forever and for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice defending our great nation.

Recently, New York City authorities announced that two more people, a man and a woman, were identified from the remains of the 9/11 attack bringing the total to 1,649 victims having been identified over the past 22 years. Remains continue to be tested using DNA technology and body fragments. The families of the two recently identified victims have requested for their names to be withheld.
