Barbara Jewell Poteet
GLASGOW – Barbara Jewell Poteet, 81, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023, at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Island and Bessie Hagan Franklin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Johnny Poteet, Karen Thompson (Emmett Barnett), and Christie Creek (Michael Jewell); 15 grandchildren, Mark Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Heather Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Danielle Hardin, Stephanie Scbrosky, Ashley Poteet, Amber Poteet, Ellis Poteet, J.C. Poteet, Chasity Wallace, Joshua Thompson, Trever Thompson, Stephen Mosby, and Leandrea French; one sister, Katherine Morgan; twenty-one great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Poteet, Jr.; two children, Rita Wilson and Mike Poteet; two grandchildren, Michael David Poteet and Trenton Wilson; four sisters, Virginia England, Evelyn Barton, Lora Monroe, and Teresa Franklin; and four brothers, Thomas Franklin, Garnett Franklin, Richard Franklin, and Murrell Franklin.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
