James Edward “Jimmy” Miles

GLASGOW – James Edward “Jimmy” Miles, 73, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Roger and Opal Thompson Miles.

Jimmy attended Glasgow High School, after which he attended the University of Kentucky. He was a retired respiratory therapist at the T J Samson Community Hospital with 40 years service. He was a lover of football, baseball, pipe smoking, and bass fishing. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam and attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a member of Barren Bassmasters and River Lake Church.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Parrish Miles; one son, Wesley Miles and wife Kaylan of Murray; one granddaughter, Genevieve Foster Miles; one sister, Vicki Mathews and husband Terry; and their children, Melissa and Justin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 4, 2023, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial with military honors provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to River Lake Church or to BRAWA.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I met Jimmy in the 60’s in Cave City and he was funny, smart, and kind. When he went to Vietnam, I wrote letters to him and think I still have what he wrote back. We lost touch and I think I only saw him one time, years later after that. I know your family will miss him terribly.
