Trojans and Raiders pick up road wins, Colonels drop opener

The Barren County Trojans opened their season with a road victory over the Metcalfe County Hornets, a 30 – 0 shutout win. The Trojans will play at home next week in the second game of the Trojan Trail Turf Wars scheduled to start at 8 pm. The Trojans will be the featured game in next week’s BCP.
Greenwood will play Warren East at Barren County at 6:00 pm in the first game of the Trojan Trail Turf War.
The Trojans rushed for 228 yards in their win over the Hornets. BCHS had 98 total yards in the air.
Quarterback Tate Spillman was 8 of 10 passing and rushed for 93 yards on 18 carries. He also scored 2 touchdowns.
Kody Kerney had 6 carries for 53 yards. Logan Truett had 5 carries for 33 yards. Austin Sewell carried the football 10 times for 23 yards and a TD. He also had 1 catch for 8 yards.
Braxton Carnes had 4 carries for 16 yards and a TD. He also had a catch for 28 yards. Colton Thomas had 1 carry for 10 yards.
Brey Bewley caught 2 passes for 29 yards. Cash Moore had 2 catches for 10 yards.
Hadley Adams kicked and made all 4 his PATS.
Brayden Houchens recovered a fumble on defense. Jonathan Wilson, Colton Thomas, and Brooks Browning each had 3 solo tackles for BCHS to lead the Trojans on defense. Dakodah Wade and Greyson Billingsley each had 2 solo take downs.
The Hart County Raiders took to the road and defeated Spencer County at Nelson County 37-22 in their season opener.
The Caverna Colonels also were on the road and were defeated by 5A Muhlenberg 22-6. The Colonels will be featured in next week’s BCP. They play Fairveiw at home on Saturday at 3pm.
Glasgow shutout LaRue 35-0 at home (see full story in this week’s BCP).
Butler County beat Russellville 29-7 at Logan County.
Edmonson County lost 14-7 at home to Grayson County.
