After starting a long streak of wins last season with the season opener against Barren County, the Hornets would look to do the same in their home opener Friday night. With the hill packed hours before kickoff, the atmosphere was set for an electrifying night of football.

Speaking pregame with Coach LJ Harbison he explained his expectation for his team, “Our goal every week is 1-0. The kids have been working hard all week on the game plan to perfect it. They know what’s on the table and know what they have to do to win.

With the Hill packed, the stands, sidelines, and traditional tailgate spots full, Barren County would receive the opening kickoff in front of a standing-room-only crowd. The Trojans would drive the length of the field, putting up a touchdown on their opening drive. Barren would find the endzone once more in the first half, taking a 14-0 lead into the half. Metcalfe would continue to struggle offensively in the second half, eventually falling to the Trojans 30-0.

While Metcalfe was never able to find a rhythm Friday night, it is evident they have an offense full of playmakers. Now, with a regular season game under their belt, the Hornets will look to right the ship at Edmonson County, as they take on their former district opponent.
