Velma Martin Raymer

LOUISVILLE – Velma Martin Raymer, age 95, departed this life on Monday, July 31, 2023, in Louisville. The Edmonson County native was born on November 22, 1927, to the late Myrtle Martin Adwell. She was married to the late Leon Raymer.

Velma retired from American Cellophane and was of the Christian faith. She was a music enthusiast, although her greatest enjoyment was her family and animals. She wanted them cared for above all else.

She leaves to honor her memory— her children, Edmund Kemper (Monica), Robert Lee Kemper, Jr. (Penny), Suzanne Terrell (Garry), and Thomas Kemper all of Louisville; grandchildren, Ashley Kemper, Jessica Kemper, Matthew Kemper, April Meleski (John), Christina Baldwin (Benjamin), Kelly Rogers (Carl), Stephen Kemper, Jr. (Jamie), and Garry Terrell, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Doyle; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved cats, ViVi, Buddy, Sophia, Peter, and Pookie.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Kemper, Sr.; former husband, Robert Lee Kemper, Sr.; several siblings; and her grandparents that helped raise her, Hugh and Lottie Martin.

Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery.
