Howard Douglas Gossett

HORSE CAVE – Howard Douglas Gossett, age 72, departed this life on July 14, 2023. He was born on December 16, 1950, in Hart County to the late Alvie James Gossett and Hattie Lee Doyle Gossett. He was married for forty-five years to, Mary Frankie Craine Gossett, who also preceded him in death.

Douglas was a former mechanical engineer at DART. He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of American Legion Post #23, and was of the Baptist faith.

He leaves to honor his memory– his son, Paul Douglas Gossett of Hardyville; a brother, Junior Gossett (Ruth Ann) of Uno; a sister, Hazel Smith of Bon Ayr; a special cousin, Terry “Moose” Gossett;  along with several nephews and nieces.

In addition to his parents and wife, Douglas was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul, Joe, and James Gossett; sisters, Helen Minor, Bertha Adwell, Frances Minor, Margaret Gossett, and Betty Poynter.

Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Graveside military honors by Barren County DAV Post #20.
