The members of the Edmonton City Council met in a special called July meeting on Thursday, June 29th due to the July 4th holiday.

City Attorney Brian Pack reported attending a couple of 911 board meetings since the last city council meeting and advised that the Barren County Judge/Executive might come to a council meeting so that everyone could share their concerns.
The budget shortfall of funds for the operation of the Barren/Metcalfe 911 has caused the use of savings and Mayor Doug Smith inquired about the 911 saving account, “Isn’t that both of our money? We didn’t get asked about taking that money out.”
Pack replied, “You could view it that way. Yes, I think that is an appropriate way that the savings came by virtue of tax monies that had come from not only Barren, but also Metcalfe.”
“So, it belongs to Metcalfe equally, same as it does Barren, right?” questioned Smith adding, “We’re not getting to control how they take money out of it… I don’t understand how they just take 150,000 dollars out of our joint savings account, what I view it as, and without talking to us about it! Course they got more people to vote to do that, but that don’t seem like a joint, seems like they’re in control.”
It was explained that the 911 board consists of 10 people, 3 for Metcalfe and 7 for Barren and they decide how the money is spent.
It was noted that in the past a lot of money was spent without any say-so from Metcalfe and now that money is getting tight, “all we’re hearing about is how are we’re gonna fix it!” said Smith.
Pack suggested that all parties involved should sit down and discuss their problems face to face.

This event is still in the planning stage at this time. Clerk Dawn Devore stated, “We will not do trick or treat around the park on that same night…we have talked about doing a movie night, but not that night.”
With no other business to discuss the meeting adjourned.
