Donnie Lee Fancher
CENTER – Donnie Lee Fancher, age 80, passed away in his home on July 9, 2023. Donnie was a lifelong resident of Center, Kentucky. He was born and raised on his family farm, where he continued farming for the remainder of his life. Donnie was a lover of John Deere Tractors and Holstein Cattle. Anyone that spoke to him could expect a detailed conversation about farming. He enjoyed spending his time out on the tractor. He taught his large family of daughters, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren to work on the farm and enjoy the farming lifestyle. Donnie rarely missed watching a University of Kentucky basketball game and also enjoyed catching up on the local news at Center Store.
Donnie is preceded in death by his father and mother, William Harrison Fancher and Lillie Mouser Fancher; brother, Chester Ray Fancher (Forestine); one daughter, Kathy Slinker; granddaughter, Charity Newton; and great-granddaughter, Evelyn Rodenberg.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janus Fancher of Center; two daughters, Anita Whisman of Cave City and Amanda Newton (Charles) of Center; his brother, DalGene Fancher (Ramona) of Center; grandchildren, Nicole Rodenberg (Austin), of LaGrange, Kellie Mann (Tyler), of Somerset, and Jace Newton, of Center; great-grandchildren, Blakely Mann, Mollie Mann, Willa Mann, Liam Rodenberg, and Mila Rodenberg. Donnie was blessed with wonderful caregivers, Paula Carpenter, Kaye Simpson, and Dorothy Crain, that remained with him day and night in his final days.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Winn Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Houk Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Winn Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 2 PM – 7 PM and from 8 AM until time of service on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Houk Cemetery.
