The Metcalfe County Fiscal Court met on Tuesday, May 30th for a special called meeting. Before the special meeting, the Public Hearing for the use of County Road Aid or LGEA Funds was opened. There were no comments or letters received so the public hearing was closed.
Court Clerk Shannon Fields addressed the court with the selections for the 3 District Reapportionment Committee spots. They are Benny Lile, Henry Froggett, and Brandon Bell. The court approved the three and then discussed what pay they would receive for the work. It was noted that Brandon Bell is an employee of the UK College of Agriculture and cannot be paid for this service. The court agreed that the other two would receive $300 total per person for the work.
The last meeting held a bit of controversy concerning the choice of only 3 committee members for the 4 districts and the options were discussed as to being able to change the KRS to read four to match the districts. This was misunderstood by some readers, this is not changing the number of districts in the county. KRS states to select 3 individuals. These individuals will work with BRADD employees in the redistricting which is a rebalancing of the number of people in each of the four districts using census population numbers. The purpose is for each of the 4 districts to have as close as possible, the same number of people.
Next, bids were opened for the AOC/Judicial Center Maintenance Contract and the Janitorial Contract for the AOC and Government Center. Only one bid was received for the maintenance contract for both buildings of $21,755 per year or $1,812.92 per month.
Two bids were received for the janitorial contract for both buildings. One quoted $4,350 per month for cleaning both buildings. The second quoted a price for cleaning only the Government Center for a cost of $1,620 per month.
These bids will be reviewed by the magistrates and the bids will be awarded at the next meeting.
Claims, budget, and inter-fund transfers were viewed and approved.
The next regular meeting of the Metcalfe County Fiscal Court is scheduled for June 13th at 9 a.m.
