Billy Travis Poteet

BEE SPRINGS – Billy Travis Poteet, age 79, was surrounded by his family when he departed this life on Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his home. The Edmonson County native was born on March 20, 1944, to the late James Floyd and Edith Hayes Poteet. He was married to his devoted wife of over sixty years, Patricia Ann Poteet, who survives.

Billy retired after owning and operating Bee Spring Lumber Company for forty-two years. After retirement, Billy thoroughly enjoyed watching all sports, hunting, eating a good home-cooked meal, and visiting with his family and friends. He was a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church, where he sang bass with the Bee Spring Quartet for many years.

Besides his wife, Patricia, he leaves to honor his memory— his daughter, Sherry Ann Carroll (Jesse) of Bee Spring; grandson, Triston Linwood Penn of Nashville, TN; three siblings, Julia Duvall of Leitchfield, Carolyn Winstead of Leitchfield, and Wendell Poteet (Sandy) of Brownsville; along with several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law.  He was also preceded in death by his son, Travis Wayne Poteet; and siblings, Bobby and Jack Poteet, Naomi and Leona Vincent.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hosparus Health of Barren River, 101 Riverwood Ave STE B, Bowling Green, KY 42103.

Interment will be in Bee Spring Church Cemetery.
