Betty Louise Poynter

CAVE CITY – Betty Louise Poynter, age 84, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at her residence. The Louisville, KY native was born on February 26, 1939, to the late Alvie James and Hattie Doyle Gossett. She was married to the late Roger Poynter and the late Benjamin Hernandez.

Betty was a housewife and worked as a cook at several local restaurants and convenient stores. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

She leaves to honor her memory— grandchildren, Anita Fernandez (Fernando), Luke Poynter, Samantha Wood, Douglas Wood, Ricky Wood (Jessica), Tammy Poynter (Rick), Hattie Poynter (Blake), Donna Carrera (Bartolo), Crystal Poynter (Brian), Rebecca Harris (Jason), and Natasha Naseef; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Douglas and Junior Gossett; and sister, Hazel Smith.

She was also preceded in death by her children, Jennifer Naseef, Larry Poynter, Karen Wood, and Cathy Poynter; siblings, James, Joe, Paul and Margaret Gossett, Bertha Adwell, and Frances and Helen Minor.

Interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
