Charles Marvin Young

GLASGOW – Charles Marvin Young, 94, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at his residence. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late Charles Lovell Young and Bernice Gertrude Moon Young. He was a retired welder and was the founder and owner of Young & Furlong Welding. He was also a United States Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Eleanor Jean Young; two daughters, Rita Tew and husband Ray of Atlanta, and Marla Fuller and husband Robert of Franklin, KY; four grandchildren, Paul Tew (Morgan), John Tew (Eileen), Charlie Tew (Annette), and Sarah Fuller Dinwiddie (Lee Ross Dinwiddie); six great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Young, and Wayne Young; and by two sisters, Anita Thomas, and Ruth Barton.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be after 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend a special recognition and thanks to his caregivers, Diana Jones, Sharon Cartmill, Carla Scott, and Tara Glass for the excellent care given to Marvin.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hosparus—Barren River.
