Glenda Gaye Webb Gibson
BROWNSVILLE – Glenda Gaye Webb Gibson, age 87, peacefully departed this life with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. The Edmonson County native was born on June 28, 1935, to the late Alton and Inez Vincent Webb. She was married to her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Billy Sanders Gibson, until they were parted by his death on March 12, 2020.
Gaye retired from the Edmonson County PVA Office. Gaye was saved as a young girl at Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church and later moved her membership to Pleasant Union United Baptist Church. Through the years, Gaye wore many hats, but her most cherished title was being a wife, mom, and mammaw to her family, whom she adored.
She leaves to honor her memory four children, Rhonda Patton (Ed) of Louisville, Jim Gibson (Glen) of Louisville, Cindy Sowders (Rick) of Bowling Green, and Carol Abell (Sam) of Nashville, TN; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Gibson of Brownsville; nine grandchildren, Courtney Roggenkamp, Ryan Patton, Andrew Patton (Jennifer), Tiffany Mayse (Levi), Ben Sowders (Shelbee), Morgan Bucher (Austin), Alex Abell, Elliott Abell, and Mary Margaret Abell; nine great-grandchildren, Patton, Emma, and Cooper Roggenkamp, Garrett and Bristol Mayse, and Knox and Pax Patton, Tallulah Jane Bucher, and Gibson Marie Sowders; two sisters, Barbara Miller (Ross) and Vickie Davis (Joy); and four loving caretakers, Susan Waldrop, Carol McMullen, Nelda Vincent, and Wendy Sowders.
Besides her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Thomas E. Gibson.
