The tradition lives on in 2022, after pausing for the pandemic in 2021, the homemakers are back with their delicious soup luncheon and they did not disappoint.

The back room of the Metcalfe County Extension Office was abuzz with customers ready to try the various soups made by the Homemakers. Several people stopped by and got their food to go. Along with the soups, there were cheese, crackers, cornbread, and a variety of other toppings, plus a whole table of scrumptious-looking homemade desserts.

The Homemaker’s Soup Luncheon has been going for over 20 years according to Mrs. Lucy Forbes and has blossomed into much more. A silent auction was added a few years ago and has been quite successful. The items are displayed around the room and anyone can stop and write in their bid for the items.

The Homemakers were also selling raffle tickets for a quilt to be given away this December. You can still get your tickets for $1 each. The money will go to the Homemaker’s College Scholarship.

All the luncheon proceeds go to UK Ovarian Cancer Research.
