JOYCE WEIR
GLASGOW – Joyce Weir, 74, passed away on October 29, 2022, at her residence. Joyce was born November 16, 1947, in Somerset, Kentucky to Jesse Huff and Kate (Grider) Huff, both of which predeceased her. Joyce married the love of her life, Ernie Clay Weir, on February 27, 1965, and after living in Russell Springs, Kentucky as well as Lexington, Kentucky for a short while, they moved to Glasgow in 1969 and it became their lifelong home.
After almost 56 years of marriage, Ernie passed away on December 14, 2020, and now they are rejoined again in heaven. Joyce is survived by their only child, Tammy DeBorde (Todd); and their only grandchild, Leah Kate Deborde, all of Richmond, Kentucky. Also, surviving is one sister, Anna Lois (Huff) Huckaby of Russell Springs, Kentucky; and a brother-in-law, Ivan Weir (Myra) of Parker’s Lake, Kentucky. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. She was predeceased by one brother, Chuck Huff; and one sister, Reba May (Huff) Herriford.
Joyce obtained a Cosmetology License in the early 70s and worked as a cosmetologist for a short time. She then worked the Jewelry/Makeup and Fragrance counter at Watson’s Dept Store for several years, which was right up her alley since she loved the aroma of beautiful fragrances and all things pretty. After that, she went to work as a manager at Southern Beauty Supply, which is where she was employed until she retired.
Joyce was a very thoughtful and giving person and if she thought you needed something, she made sure you had it. If you were someone she loved or her friend, she did not want you to need anything. She had a heart of gold. Her love for her husband, Ernie, her daughter, Tammy, and granddaughter, Leah was seen by all that met her. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Her services will be handled by A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home in Glasgow, Kentucky, with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. CST to 8:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. CST on Thursday, November 3, 2022. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. CST, at the funeral home, with the graveside service and burial at the Russell Springs City Cemetery in Russell Springs, Kentucky.
