KSP Investigates Fatal Collision on KY-1297

Glasgow, Ky. (October 18, 2022) – On Monday, October 17th, 2022 just after 8:00 a.m., Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green was requested by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an injury collision in Barren County. Troopers responded to the scene of the collision located near 8104 Old Bowling Green Road (KY-1297).

Preliminary investigation indicates that Trevor N. Walker, 23, of Glasgow, was operating a 2015 GMC Sierra eastbound on Old Bowling Green Road. Walker’s vehicle struck the rear of a horse drawn vehicle being operated by Ella Gingarich, 27, of Smiths Grove. Ms. Gingarich and three juvenile passengers, ages 6, 3, and 1,  were ejected from the horse drawn vehicle upon impact.  All occupants of the horse drawn vehicle were flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  On Tuesday, October 18th, the 6 year old passenger succumbed to injures sustained in the collision. Ella Gingarich is listed in stable condition, one juvenile passenger is listed in critical but stable condition and the other was treated and released.

The investigation is being led by Trooper Michael Wathen. He was assisted at the scene by Barren County EMS, Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Department, Air Methods, and KSP personnel.
