For 14 years, the Bobby Driver Memorial scholarship fund has been presenting scholarships to local kids, in conjunction with the annual “Singing for Scholarships”
This year’s singing will be Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the historic Plaza Theatre at 7 p.m. Each year there is a different theme. This year’s theme is “Shadows of the Past” and features musical entertainment from the local band, High Fidelity, which will bring rock from the 60s and 70s and Motown hits.
Mini local performers including Jeff Bruce, Sam Day Dickinson, Byron Lucas, and Brian Pack paying tribute to The Beatles, will perform.
Other local performers include Red Cross Elementary School teacher Amy Gill, local pipers, Josh Garrett and Kevin Poynter, Raegan Blair, Lauren Gatewood, Kayla Kaumanns, Lucy Richardson, and Hailey Wyatt.
The night will feature instrumental and vocal songs, flavored with nostalgic tunes from yesteryear.
The Bobby Driver Memorial Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in November of 2006 as a Kentucky corporation and as a 501 (C) (3) charity in memory of Bobby, who taught and served as a coach for 30 years in Allen, Glasgow Independent, and Barren County school systems.
Bobby Driver was an inspiring teacher and coach who made a difference in his students. It is our sincere hope that our mission, inspired by the life of Bobby, will serve to provide a positive influence for many generations to come.
A key factor in the ongoing success of the BDMSF is the financial aid it receives through its supporters. As of today, the scholarship fund has awarded a total of $66,200 to thirty-nine students.
