MARLENE JEWELL HARRISON
GLASGOW – Marlene Jewell Harrison passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was born on March 29, 1937, in Barren County, Kentucky, the daughter of Marie Goode Fish and Omer Jewell Whitley and the granddaughter of Eula and Charles Henry Goode, who she said was always like parents to her. Marlene was saved at a young age and was a lifelong member of Grider Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, Marlene was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, James Thomas Harrison; her sisters, Shirley Thomas and Donna Doyle; and her sons-in-law, Lynn Feese, and Tim Gillenwater.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia Harrison McCormick (John) of Lynchburg, Virginia; James Anthony Harrison, Melinda Harrison Feese, Steven Allen Harrison, and Kimberly Harrison Gillenwater all of Glasgow; her grandchildren, Kessley McCormick Horton (Brandon), Whitley Feese Frazier (Jamie), Gabriel Harrison Feese (Cassie), Melyssa Marlene Harrison, James Wesley Harrison, and Beau Jakob Harrison. She is also survived by her four great-grandchildren, Noah Harrison, Lynnley Frazier, Julian Horton, and Porter Feese. Her brother, Larry Golden, and sister-in-law, Faye Walker also survive, along with several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was a gifted floral designer, and she practiced her talent at Barren County Florist, as well as owning her own florist for some time. Many will remember her from Watson’s/Peebles/Stage, where she worked for 26 years as a fashion advisor and interior display designer. She had a particular love for Victorian design. She also worked for several years in the Liberty Street Elementary School cafeteria where she had so many fond memories.
She loved reading and taught her children the joy and importance of reading; she also loved traveling, journaling, camping, and her favorite–just family time and listening to her family make music and sing.
Marlene was a wonderful Mother who adored her family and always led by example. She is so loved and will be greatly missed.
Her family would like to thank her doctors, caregivers, Glasgow Prescription Center, Southern Kentucky Hearing Aid Specialists, and Community Medical Care.
