T.J. Community Mission Foundation Hosts Donor Appreciation Luncheon

The T.J. Community Mission Foundation recently hosted a Donor Appreciation Luncheon at the T.J. Health Pavilion Community Center.  The luncheon was held to recognize those who were fundamental in the opening of the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.

In 2015 the board of directors of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation identified a critical need in our community for a residential hospice home for patients facing end-of-life care and where families can seek a place of comfort, counseling, and compassionate treatment in a home-like setting.

The 10,400 square foot facility is located at 1020 Glenview Drive and includes 8 inpatient rooms with the capacity to expand to 12 rooms if needed, kitchen and living spaces, private areas for families and guests along with access to a private patio.  The hospice home is designed to provide comfort, counseling, and support to a patient with life-limiting illnesses and their family.

Randy Burns, Executive Director of the T.J. Community Mission Foundation stated, “What an incredible day this has been for us to celebrate not only the first year of service of Shanti Niketan Hospice Home and its incredible staff, but also the wonderful donors of this community and region who helped make Shanti Niketan a reality.  Through their generosity, we are excited to say we are down to roughly the last $900,000 that we need to raise to have the $3.5 million project fully funded.  I’m very excited about the conversations we will be having with individuals and families who can help us finish the course and secure the future of Shanti Niketan Hospice Home for generations to come.”

The T.J. Community Mission Foundation was established to increase community engagement and advance philanthropy to support the region with exceptional healthcare programs, patient care, and technology. The goal of the Foundation is to provide a bridge between medicine and compassion as the heartbeat of a healthy community.
