Metcalfe native Nick Anderson has opened his own insurance office, O’Reid Insurance LLC, in Smiths Grove. The first day of operation was August 1.

Anderson says that what started as something to make a little money, became something he was truly interested in.

“In the summer of 2009, I moved back home from WKU and started helping around a local agency, taking payments, answering the phones, and oh, the dreaded filing, it was the worst,” he said.

“But what started out as just something to pick up some extra cash, turned into something that I really enjoyed.”

In 2013, he got his agent license.

“Insurance is something that we all need at some point, and I think it’s very important to listen to my clients and help them navigate what can be very confusing process to most,” said Anderson.

In hindsight, Anderson says that his interest in insurance started in childhood, because of his mother.

“My mother worked at a local agency when I was just a child. I can remember going in there with her on occasion playing on the computer and adding machine, pretending I was really working. I got my start at the same agency when I was just 19 years old. In hindsight, I practically grew up there.”

Anderson says he hopes friends and family from Metcalfe County utilize his new service.

“Although my office is located in Smiths Grove, Metcalfe County is still home. I want to give the folks of Metcalfe County additional insurance options and an agent who cares. Not one that has a large quota to meet, but one that will listen, advise, and ultimately let the client decide what is best for them. If they have a claim, I’m not the ‘I don’t handle that’ kind of agent. While I’m not an insurance adjuster, I want to be actively involved in the claims process and be there for my clients. My early days of customer service are still part of me and that’s what makes me a little different I suppose.”

His new office is located at 111 N. Main St., Smiths Grove, Kentucky.
