Dr. Chad Muhlenkamp has been named superintendent for Glasgow Independent Schools.  This concludes a search that began when former superintendent Keith Hale announced his resignation earlier this year.  By last week, the potential superintendents had been narrowed to for individuals.

The announcement was made Friday evening at the conclusion of a special meeting of the Glasgow Board of Education. Muhlenkamp is no stranger to the school system; He has served as the Director of Pupil Personnel (DPP) for Glasgow Schools since 2017.

“I am humbled and honored to serve as the next Superintendent of Glasgow Independent Schools. I look forward to working with the Board of Education, staff, students, families, and community as we continue to build on the long-standing tradition of excellence,” said Muhlenkamp, in a press release.

Dr. Muhlenkamp began his career in education as an elementary school teacher in Hart County before transferring to Highland Elementary the year it opened, where he served as teacher and curriculum facilitator. He was later the principal of South Green Elementary.

He attended the University of the Cumberlands, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education, and obtained a master’s degree in Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction and School Administration along with other certifications from Western Kentucky University. He completed his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at the University of the Cumberlands in 2015.

“I can’t begin to thank everyone who helped shape my course over the years. The foundation I received as a student of Glasgow Independent Schools helped pave the way for my future endeavors. I am endlessly indebted to the faculty and staff who had high standards and held the expectation of excellence while I was a student, and to my professors, colleagues, and peers who have provided insight, guidance and partnerships over the years. Last not but not least, I want to thank my family for all of their support and encouragement over the years! With the help of these people in my life, I will strive to be better every day,” said Muhlenkamp.  Dr. Muhlenkamp began his career in education as an elementary school teacher in Hart County before transferring to Highland Elementary the year it opened, where he served as teacher and curriculum facilitator.
