The Metcalfe County Public Library hosts another event for their annual Summer Reading program. Last Wednesday, kids and adults alike gathered to see the reptiles from a Kentucky Reptile Zoo program. Participants learned a variety of facts and characteristics about the reptiles showcased at the Bowling Park Gymnasium. The program included a corn snake, tortoise, alligator snapping turtle, baby alligator, and an extremely large boa constrictor snake.
Children enrolled in the library’s summer reading program can add these programs for extra achievements to earn tickets for grand prize drawings in August if they attended. Achievement challenges are due at 4:30 PM on Friday, August 5. The finale and prize drawings will conclude the summer reading program on Wednesday, August 10 at 10:00 AM at the Bowling Park Gym.
All programs have been free to the community. Sponsors for the summer reading program are listed as follows: Bowling Park, Carhartt, Inc., Edmonton/Metcalfe Chamber of Commerce, Edmonton State Bank, Edmonton United Methodist Women, Herald-News, McDonald’s of Edmonton, The Printing Press, Proceeds from Metcalfe Co.
