The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 3 in Bowling Green is continuing the investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred on July 9, 2022, by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.
KSP Post 3 detectives, with assistance from KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team, have conducted necessary interviews and is releasing findings from the preliminary investigation. The preliminary investigation reveals deputies from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office responded to conduct a welfare check near an address on Paul Clark Rd in the Cave City community. Upon arrival, Dillon E. Walker, 31, of Westmoreland, TN., fled on foot from his vehicle, which was located off the side of the roadway. Deputies located Walker in a field holding a firearm. After repeated loud verbal commands to drop the weapon Walker pointed the firearm at the deputies. A deputy then discharged his agency-issued firearm, striking Walker. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
WCLU Radio reported sources familiar with the investigation say that Deputies Jason Morgan and Trey Wyatt are on administrative leave. The BCP has confirmed this information as, “administrative leave pending a full investigation”.
The investigation remains ongoing by Kentucky State Police Post 3. No Further details can be released at this time.

Cave City, KY. (July 9, 2022) -The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has been requested by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 4:30 am this morning in Barren County.
At the request of the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, KSP detectives along with KSP’s critical incident response team have arrived on the scene and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing. A male suspect was pronounced deceased by the Barren County Coroner’s Office. An autopsy has been scheduled at the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville.
No officers or members of the community were injured during this incident.
