KSP releases information in Barren County Officer-Involved Shooting
Special to the Progress
Post 3 of the Kentucky State Police (KSP) is continuing the investigation into an officer-involved shooting by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). This incident happened on July 9.
KSP detectives, with assistance from KSP’s Critical Incident Response Team, have conducted necessary interviews and the preliminary investigation reveals the following:
Deputies from the BCSO responded to conduct a welfare check near an address on Paul Clark Rd. in the Cave City community.
Upon arrival, Dillon E. Walker, 31, of Westmoreland, TN., fled on foot from his vehicle, which was located off the side of the roadway. Deputies located Walker in a field holding a firearm. After repeated, loud verbal commands to drop the weapon, Walker pointed the firearm at the deputies. A BCSO deputy then discharged his agency-issued firearm, striking Walker. Walker was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Barren County Coroner’s Office.
This is an ongoing investigation; More details will be released at a later time.
